Apply SIPOC to structure process models
- [Instructor] SIPOC is simply Suppliers, Inputs, Process, Outputs, and Customers. And while simple, it can be a great way to look at your process from a different angle to see great opportunities. Let's start with a basic process model that is in your exercise handouts. It is the basic steps of a process for a restaurant serving food but includes the steps of acquiring the raw materials and the transportation to the restaurant, just like a simple supply chain model. Now, let simply layer a SIPOC table beneath our process flow map. I'm just using the vertical swim lanes for ease of use. Now, the important part is to ask the good questions, but we're going to focus using this SIPOC model, and I like to start with the Process section. And the question to start is simply, what are the steps of the process from procurement to customer delivery? And keep this simple to start. You want enough information to just start thinking through the process, like Record Inventory, Stock Shelves, Meal…
