What do we use to measure what has been implemented or what should be implemented? The security posture itself can be defined as what are we going to do to protect, detect and respond to incidents and threats in the environment? This is where benchmarks and deployment guides come in. Chances are you're not the first organization or person to try to achieve a certain compliance or get to a certain security goal. Microsoft publishes benchmarks like the Azure Security benchmark and deployment guides, like the Rapid Modernization Plan to help the journey from start to finish. The Rapid Modernization plan helps you start with your cloud infrastructure, extend that security to on-premises environments, engage the various teams that might need to implement new processes and create policy guardrails for the environment.
