- Qualitative risk analysis. It's a crucial process and a game-changer to overcome project barriers, yet many project managers miss it entirely. Don't be that project manager who overlooks this step and leaves your project vulnerable. This is where you take your risk register and use qualitative risk analysis to rank your risks from highest to lowest impact, assigning it a score. For each risk, you will work with your team to assign a Probability and Impact Rating on a scale from 1 to 5. A rating of 1 means low probability or low impact, while a rating of 5 means high probability or high impact. Once you have these ratings, you will multiply the Probability Score by the Impact Score to get your Risk Rating. These Risk Scores allow you to rank the risk from highest to lowest. The higher the score, the more attention that risk demands. Sometimes the highest-ranked scores are beyond the risk threshold for the organization, and a decision can be made to not move forward with the project…
