- So how do we operate IoT based systems and their Amazon Web Services IoT system? A few things to keep in mind. First and foremost is the ability to monitor what's going on. So, if we're going to monitor we need different tools to deal with the monitoring capability, the ability to watch things at the device level, or the centralized server level. We have the ability to use tools that are native to Amazon Web Services, such as Amazon CloudWatch. And we can use existing native logging capability, such as monitoring CloudWatch Logs. And we can also use AWS IoT API calls using AWS CloudTrail, the ability to leverage native tools, in essence, to monitor and to manage our IoT enabled applications. So how do we solve operational problems? Well, we have to deal with troubleshooting capabilities. Keep in mind that IoT based systems are particularly problematic considering the fact that they have devices that can go offline, very low powered networks, very low powered computers. And they…
