- [Instructor] You no doubt encounter chroma key effects on a regular basis, whether you're aware of it or not. Keying essentially removes the background from behind an actor for instance, and replaces it with any real or imagined background. And you see this process using everything from big budget fantasy movies, science fiction movies to the nightly news. The TV weather report is essentially a man standing in front of a green screen. Keying removes the green and replaces it with a weather map, for instance. So we're going to create a basic chroma key composite. And I'm going to just start by dragging my background, the background that I'm going to swap in, down to video track one. This runs completely off my timeline. So I'm going to just press the backslash key right above the enter or return key. There we go. Just shrink the zoom on my timeline so I can see everything at once.
