Compare LabVIEW versions
- There are two versions, or strains, of LabVIEW to choose from. LabVIEW and LabVIEW NXG. Regular LabVIEW is the traditional version of LabVIEW which traces its lineage back to the mid '80s, which means it's undergone continuous growth and development for over 30 years. LabVIEW NXG is the next generation of LabVIEW which was initially released in 2017. The LabVIEW developers decided that the decades old code base of traditional LabVIEW was limiting their ability to incorporate new features. So, they spent several years on a complete re-write of the underlying code and environment to modernize it. Traditional LabVIEW uses an annual naming model and a new version is usually released in May of each year. At the time of this recording, the latest version is LabVIEW 2019.
