Tracking time
Now let's talk about tracking time spent during and after work ends. Now the goal of time tracking is not to measure how fast you can complete an item. Instead, it's to communicate progress and how much work is left to complete. Is someone constantly asking is it done yet? Try teaching them about the progress bars in JIRA. If you're logging time, they can answer that question without bugging you. After the work is done, compare the actual time to the estimate to understand effort and improve estimation next time. These are very powerful metrics. It's not about how good of a worker you are or how fast you are compared to your colleagues. Just like with estimation, there are several ways to enter time spent. Click the Time Tracking area to open the overlay. In the overlay, enter time in the Time Spent field. Just like with estimates, you can enter time in weeks, days, hours, or minutes. In this example, I'll enter 2h for 2 hours of time spent, and 15m for 15 minutes remaining. Finally…
