Roles and policy
Let's talk about job roles and specifically how those roles relate to access. Having an inventory of roles and policies that represent access within an organization, and the rules for managing that access go a long way in helping organizations effectively manage access to resources. Without roles defined, you would have to ask each user in your organization what applications they used and why. And without policies, you wouldn't have any boundaries that help you decide who should have access and who shouldn't. So, if you needed to answer questions around why certain individuals had access and what they used it for, you'd have a pretty tough set of questions to answer. Let's say there's an engineering manager position at Little Monsters, and we want to make sure that whenever we have someone in that engineering manager position, we can quickly assign them access to the applications they need to best do their job.
