Application tracing
- [Instructor] I often progress through these stages of debugging when I'm trying to figure out why an app isn't functioning. I don't always find myself at step six, but with microservices, debugging issues does get a lot more complicated. Before the tooling evolved in to cloud native ecosystem, I was pretty much equipped with detailed log statements and multiple screens to see log data flowing in. Fortunately for me, the CNCF stepped in and introduced Open Telemetry and Jaeger as important projects to help with issues of tracing applications. Also, I'd like to give a shout out to ZipKin, which is another open source project, similar to these. Let's take a look. Think of Open Telementry as the standard for setting up a distributed trace in your application. It started out as a spec, but has grown to be a collection of tools, APIs, and SDKs. Use it in your applications to instrument, generate, collect, and export…
