- [Instructor] Hello and welcome to this course on Secure Credential Management. In the previous videos in this course, we talked about the why and the how of secure credential management, talking about the fact that passwords are pretty commonly used protecting sensitive systems, and how to deal with the numerous different types of attacks against these authentication systems. In this video, we're going to talk about some case studies where organizations failed to securely manage user credentials. Moving on to the next slide. We can start out by talking about the fact that password-based systems are protecting a lot of sensitive information, makes them a target, and makes it important to protect them. There are many ways for password management to go wrong, and the fact that most developers aren't professional cryptographers means that it's easy to make a simple mistake with significant impacts.
