Using Word templates
- [Instructor] Let's see how to use InDesign to create a simple Word document that can serve as an easy to use template for writers. Start with an InDesign template like the one I've got here. Create some placeholder text and format it with the styles that you want your writers to use in Word. Include things like headings, body text, and so on. It's important that all the text is cleanly styled with no local overrides. Then when you have all the styles applied to the text in one InDesign story, put your cursor in the text frame and choose File, Export, Format, Rich Text Format, and I'll save it to my desktop. I'll switch over to Word and open the RTF. The text looks just like it did in InDesign. In order for that to happen, you have to make sure that the person working in Word has the same fonts that you're using in InDesign.
