Evolution vs. revolution

- I've been through so much organizational change in my professional career that it was one of the things that I was immediately drawn to when I started my PhD studies. I wanted to know why change happens, how it's handled, who it affects and where organizations implement change. And all of this with a goal of understanding how it can be better managed. I looked at organizational change from a variety of perspectives and in a variety of contexts. And one of the things that emerged is that understanding the type of change can help you manage that change. So all change falls on a spectrum from evolutionary to revolutionary. Evolutionary changes are those small changes that just seem to happen, that often times don't require explicit thought or planning.
