Assess and identify gaps

- One of my favorite parts of teaching management for the technology management program at UCSB is helping them through their major projects. Their major project is to analyze a company that has been in the news to determine where their management went wrong and what they could change or have changed to make sure they're operating better going forward. I have my students use a model that acts as a tool to guide where they can look. I use the same sort of tool with my clients when looking for where and what needs to change to operate more effectively. Using a framework can help guide your analysis and highlight the areas where change will have the most impact. You can use any model that makes sense to you, but let me briefly introduce you to the model I use as a baseline: the Nadler Tushman Congruence Model.
