Qualifying for the Windows 11 upgrade

- [Dan] The Windows 11 update is out and available to many computers running Windows 10. How can you tell if your Windows 10 computer qualifies for the upgrade? Open the Settings app, press the Windows + I keyboard shortcut, and choose Update & Security. This computer qualifies. The update is ready to download and install. You may see a message like this, or you may see a notice that explains the update is coming soon. Microsoft is rolling out the updates so hang tight if your computer qualifies but the update isn't available. This is a screenshot from one of my other computers. This is the message you see when the Windows 11 update isn't available for this hardware. The specific limitation is security hardware installed on the system. Some computers have it, others don't. Such as older systems like this one here. I'm going to proceed with the update for this computer. Here's what you do. Click Download and install, agree to the agreements as they're presented, And then you wait as the update is downloaded and installed. You're free to do other things on your computer during this process. You'll see a notification when the update is ready. After about 45 minutes, and your time will vary, the update has been downloaded and installed. Click the Restart now button to continue the process. The computer may restart several times until you eventually see the login screen. The update process is now complete. All told, it took just under an hour. This system here is running Windows 11. I'm going to sign into my account. Here's the updated desktop. It's familiar, but as is typical with major updates, things are going to look different and some of your favorite places or commands may have changed. Here's the Start menu which looks different, but the behavior is the same. You can get to work right away after upgrading. Yes, change is difficult, but I recommend making the upgrade. After a while, as happened to me. you may come to enjoy and appreciate many of the new features available in Windows 11.
