AI assistants: Secure options for sensitive data
When we start using AI-powered tools or when we start building AI-powered software, usually the fastest and most straightforward way to get going is what's known as an Assistant as a Service or LLM as a Service. These include famous APIs and assistants such as ChatGPT, the OpenAI API, Anthropic, Cloud, Microsoft Copilot, and Google's Gemini. While using these tools is usually the option with the least friction, we should consider some things when it comes to data privacy. First of all, when we use these tools, we may expose data to a third party, whether it be through an API or through assistance. To reduce these exposures, we want to make sure we configure these tools to the best of our abilities. Also, at times it's important to inform users or other stakeholders that you are using these tools to be transparent about how data is being used. Now in the next video, we'll look at common tooling and what you can do to configure data controls to make things a little bit safer.
