Getting started with ChatGPT-4
- [Instructor] If you've ever had a chance to play around with ChatGPT before, you likely have visited this website, chatgpt.com. This is the free version of ChatGPT. Back in November of 2022, OpenAI released it as a research preview, but then it took the world by storm. Within two months of release, over a hundred million people have used ChatGPT, and as of this recording, it's around 800 million. So let's go ahead and ask ChatGPT a question. Let's ask, What is Toronto's climate? That's where I'm from, so I'm curious. Alright, here we go, we got a response. Now if I try to use some more advanced features like clicking attach, or reason, or trying to select a new model, it says I should create a new account. So let's go ahead and do that. So I'm back in chatgpt.com. But you can notice I have my account open here. Now I have a whole bunch of configurations that I can make. For the purpose of this video, let's set up two things. The first one is let's see how we can change our plan. Let's click on Upgrade Plan. So here I am on the Plus plan, and I can also upgrade to the Pro plan. Now if I'm using a company account, I can also use the Business plan. Let's go back to our settings in the top right and click on Settings. Let's go ahead and click on Data Controls. Now, if you don't want your information used to train ChatGPT, we can turn off the Improve the Model for Everyone mode, as you can see here. So I have it off so my data won't be used. Let's click Done, and Exit. Alright, so we have ChatGPT set up in a logged in account. Let's go ahead and see what we can do. On the top left now, I see new models that are available. I see GPT 40, a few of the O Series models and more models down below. Now for this video, we're going to stick with GPT 40. I also have a number of tools that I can click on. But for this video, since this is a foundations course, we'll be focused on the core capabilities of ChatGPT. Now, if you're a developer or just curious, you can also go to platform.openai.com and access the playground. Here, there are a lot more configurations that we can set. We can configure the model with various different versions, select different tools, configure system prompts and memory, and much, much more. And we won't be spending too much time in this view since you have to configure some more items and it's a little bit more complex. But for the sections that we need it, we'll be here in platform.openai.com. Now heading back to ChatGPT, let's go ahead and ask a similar question. Let's ask, What is the weather in San Francisco? And hit Enter. Now notice here we're using the web search tool, and I'm going to get a result. So here we go, we get the forecast for San Francisco for the next week. The weather looks great. And now we have access to GPT. This is our first step to creating our first generative AI app.
