Welcome back. In this section, we are going to deep dive into DMARC, which stands for Domain-Based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance. It's one of the three major e-mail authentication protocols we use in Google Workspace alongside SPF and DKIM. Now the purpose of DMARC is simple. It allows domain owners like us to tell receiving e-mail servers what to do if an e-mail claims to come from our domain but fails SPF or DKIM checks. The action options are reject, quarantine, or deliver the message. You can also get reports that help you identify possible authentication issues and malicious activity for messages sent from your domain. It also gives us visibility into who is sending e-mail on behalf of our domain by sending us reports about these checks. You are aware that in the modern e-mail landscape, phishing and spoofing attacks are incredibly common.
