- [Narrator] In December 2017, Amazon Route 53 Auto Naming API was released to automate cloud discovery for microservices that run on AWS. Microservices are defined as independent, loosely coupled components that run each application process as a single service, such as a billing service or a user service. In November 2018, AWS Cloud Map was introduced, thereby extending the capabilities of Amazon Route 53 Auto Naming API. This allowed for the creation of a single dynamic registry for service and resource location. AWS Cloud Map allows you to create a public DNS namespace, a private DNS namespace, and an HTTP namespace. Route 53 health checks are only supported for public DNS namespaces. No private DNS namespaces are supported. Resource records get created in Route 53 for DNS namespaces. ECS and EKS both seamlessly integrate with AWS Cloud Map, and both services can automatically register and update the AWS Cloud Map…
