The batching technique
- Do you multitask? Maybe you even consider yourself a pretty effective multitasker. If so, you might be surprised to learn that true multitasking, defined as concentrating onto different tasks at the same time is essentially impossible from a physiological perspective. If you look at a functional MRI of your brain while you're supposedly multitasking, it turns out that you're actually just task switching. Well, the good news is that with practice, you can actually get more efficient at task switching. The bad news is that it almost always involves some level of wasted time and effort, switching between unrelated tasks. So what's the answer? Well, in this lesson, I'll show you how to use one of the most effective techniques I've found, batching. With this technique, you combine several of the same type of tasks to take care of at once.
