- In this video, we'll talk about bootloaders. So through the firmware, either UEFI or BIOS, the bootloader is activated. And the purpose of the bootloader is to load the Linux kernel and the related initramfs. Also, the bootloader can be used to display a boot menu on which you can specify specific boot options. The common bootloader on Linux is GRUB2. LILO and GRUB were used on legacy systems. And if you're on embedded Linux, you might find Uboot, which is a specialized bootloader. Also interesting to know if you are in Cloud Linux instances, normally provide their own bootloader. So on cloud instances, stuff might be different according to your cloud provider. Now, one of the most important things that you can do in the bootloader is access the bootloader menu to provide options that can be convenient for troubleshooting. Let me show you how that works.
