Topic is useful and the overall idea of orchestrating ETL with Airflow is relevant, but the course needs an update.
- Course relies on ElephantSQL, which has been discontinued. Following along becomes impossible without finding a replacement database service or changing the implementation.
- Environment guidance is incomplete: Airflow is demonstrated as if installation is straightforward. There’s no warning or guidance for Windows users, no mention that Airflow is not supported on native Windows, and no redirection to official alternatives like WSL2/Docker. I had to troubleshoot and set up Airflow via Ubuntu/WSL on my own with no help from the course.
- Faulty quiz content: answer marked as correct to “How does implementing incremental ETL loads contribute to data-processing efficiency?” is incorrect/misleading because incremental ETL doesn't disregard changes, it specifically processes new/changed records to avoid full reloads. If anything, it disregards unchanged data, not changes.
