From the course: DevOps Foundations: Site Reliability Engineering
What you should know
- This course is designed to introduce you to the basic concepts of site reliability engineering. - To get the most out of this course, you may want to watch the course DevOps Foundations here in the library. In it, we discuss the fundamentals of DevOps and how the three major practice areas, infrastructure automation, continuous delivery, and site reliability engineering, fit together. - Also, monitoring is a key piece of site reliability engineering, but it's so large of a topic, we're not covering it here in this course. - Instead, we've added another course, DevOps Foundations Monitoring and Observability, where we give that topic an in-depth treatment of its own. - It helps to be familiar with how operations and support teams keep services running. But our intent is for this course to be accessible for anyone with even basic IT experience and benefit both developers and operations staff. - This isn't a lab course, where you follow along and perform step-by-step activities to learn a specific technology. Instead, we'll be talking about skills and concepts that you need to implement a site reliability engineering practice. - We want to arm you with principles, patterns, best practices, and a vocabulary to help you along the path of your DevOps transformation.
