- [Presenter] Git authentication is a process of verifying the identity of the user who is accessing or modifying the Git repository. Git supports several authentication mechanisms including HTTP-based authentication. This is a simple authentication mechanism that relies on a username and password. It is the default authentication method used by Git when interacting with remote repositories over HTTP or HTTPS protocols. However, it is not very secure since the credentials are sent in plain text over the network. Next, we have SSH authentication. This is a more secure authentication mechanism that uses public-key cryptography. It requires the user to generate a public/private key pair and add the public key to their Git account.
