- DaVinci Resolve does have some automatic color grading tools that can make your life simpler. Why didn't I start off this chapter with those? Well, because like any automatic tool, they fail almost as often as they work. I will tell you, in recent versions of DaVinci Resolve, a lot of these tools have gotten a lot better. They've completely redesigned them and where they fail, they actually still give you useful starting points, but then how you fix it from that useful starting point requires you understand how to do manual color correction. So we started this chapter with manual color correction. So you understand the tools that you have at your disposal to modify those automatic corrections when they're not working for you.
