This is an area of incredible academic and national study. It's a linchpin in current day commerce of all kinds. It protects our privacy. It protects our security. It poses some very interesting policy challenges. There's a great deal more complexity than what I've presented here today, and a very rich history of cryptography that's fascinating to pursue. There's a lot of history yet to be written. Development of new computing technologies, quantum, and perhaps new breakthroughs in mathematics ensure that the story isn't done yet.
