- Instructor] In this sub lesson, we will discuss logical design. Logical database design is the process of organizing data into a structure format that reflects real world relationships, without yet worrying about how it's physically stored. Think of this as sketching the blueprint of a house before choosing the finishings. And we commonly do this with entity relationship diagrams. An ER model is a detailed, logical representation of the entities, associations, and data elements for an organization or business unit. And there are two main types of diagrams, the Chen style and the Detailed style. First the Chen style. In 1976, Peter Chen published a paper on modeling notation that used three main notations entities, relationships, and their attributes. Each diagram typically represents just one relationship.
