What is dbt?
- [Narrator] Data modeling. What, are we going to dress up our data in a fancy outfit and walk it down a runway in a way? Yes. Data modeling is the process that takes raw data, dresses it up so it's organized, cleaned and standardized, and then pushes it down the runway or pipeline so that it's ready to be used by the business users. Data modeling is essentially what we've been doing in SQL and Python in the last few chapters. Just more intentional instead of just fulfilling a request from the stakeholder for data, we are building and designing models that are pre-prepared for analysis by analysts and stakeholders as needed. The popularity of data modeling has increased quite a lot in recent years. There are a lot of tools that have been developed to aid the analytics engineer in their efforts to effectively create data models.
