- Storytelling: enhance memorability and meaning. How do you feel when I say I'm going to tell you a story? Now, how do you feel when I say I'm going to give you a 200-page PowerPoint presentation? A little bit different, right? It's not just because maybe we use PowerPoint a little bit too much, but it's because we don't use stories enough. We remember stories far more easily than we remember lists of facts, or graphs of data, or bullet points on a slide. For thousands of years, our brains have tuned into stories as a way of sharing information and emotion and experience, because they can be retold to others. And stories give us rich deeply felt experiences that are memorable because they provoke our emotional brain as well as our rational brain. A strong, clear narrative is becoming somewhat of a lost art in our working world today.
