Using cloud services
- [Instructor] In this course, we'll be working with cloud quantum programming services. Now, while some of the public cloud vendors such as Amazon Azure and others have some free offers around cloud quantum services, and other learning-only sites that are cloud, really have no charge associated with them. In the case of public cloud, these services do have charges. So if you're using a live account, so Amazon, Azure, IBM or Google, then you want to turn off any associated services such as virtual machines because oftentimes you're running some classical computing in conjunction with quantum computing after testing and using. You're going to want to set a budget alert on your trial account, and if the vendor supports it, you want to use the multifactor authentication on the root account and this is for security. If you don't do that, and somehow your password gets compromised, unfortunately, I have had some students get into situations where their account was misused. So that's just another check that you can put on the door and it's pretty easy to do. So if the vendor has MFA, you really want to use that along with the budget alert, and turning off services after you're done.
