Connecting the AI governance components
A strong AI governance program isn't just a policy or a process or a training module. It's all of them working together in a way that feels consistent to employees and scalable for the business. There are a few steps to take to connect the core components of AI governance so they function as a single cohesive model. Start with a foundation, which is your AI policy. The policy explains what the organization expects like how AI can be used, what is prohibited, what requires approval, and how employees should think about data, fairness, and accountability. But policies alone don't change behavior. They guide the rules of the road, and employees need the how behind those rules. That's where processes come in. Processes operationalize the policy. They cover intake, review, assessments, vendor valuations, approval steps, monitoring, and documentation. The key is consistency.
