- In the movie, "The Player," there's a scene where one of the execs makes an argument for not needing writers at all. My director friends all thought that was funny, and in some ways, true, until I held up a piece of blank paper and said, "Okay, direct this." Scripting what you want to say is an essential step in any video presentation. You may veer off it, but you'll always know where you're supposed to be heading. The blank page can be the most daunting thing a person can face, but getting that first draft on paper, now that's liberating. Time to take pen to paper and write it down. But you're in a good place to do this. Remember when you get to this step, you aren't starting from scratch. You know where things need to go. And with this three-tiered method, that empty page will have all your brilliant ideas scripted out in front of you. Every story has a beginning, middle, and end. That'll be our approach to video…
