Ending each coaching session with action
- The most important part of coaching isn't what you say to each other during the coaching meeting. It isn't even really the knowledge that you gain or the feeling that you had working with your coach. It's what you do with that knowledge, the action that you take. That's where real progress happens. When you act on coaching, you make it a permanent part of your life. End every coaching meeting by deciding on at least one clear and concrete action you'll complete before your next meeting. Some coaches will suggest choosing an action. Some, perhaps less experienced coaches may not. So even if they don't, you take the initiative, ask your coach, what would you suggest I do about what I've learned? Notice I didn't say that they should tell you what to do. It's always your choice. But getting a suggestion from your coach can be helpful.
