Addressing issues at a system level
- We saw how building a design system without accessibility can cause issues, but let's talk about how adding accessibility to our system improves our products. In our last video, we uncovered how a button using a certain combination of colors, font sizes and font weights could have too low of contrast, but could this same issue affect other components in our design system? Because these colors are part of our brand, let's say our team decided to use this combination across many different components. The same issue occurs in all components using this pattern. In our example, this combination was also used on links, radio buttons, check boxes, tags, popovers, and much more. This means that we didn't just create one issue in our system.
