Better impersonation using AI
- Let's take a look at how artificial intelligence helps bad actors to more effectively impersonate trusted individuals and organizations. Impersonation is a common technique used in social engineering that involves a person pretending to be someone else. If the victim of a social engineering attack believes that the person trying to scam them is actually a known and trusted entity, then the victim is more likely to share confidential or sensitive information. I'm not very likely to share my banking information or my Social Security number with a random stranger that I've never met but I might share this information with a loan officer if I'm in the process of refinancing my mortgage. Sometimes the sole objective of impersonation is to gather private information.
