Using Kanban for agile software development
- [Narrator] While there are many styles of Agile software development, the two I use most often in my work are Scrum and Kanban. Both styles are great for managing the internal complexity of large-scale angular projects. You might even switch from one style to the other, depending on what phase of the project you're in. Of the two styles I find Kanban easier to get up and running with new teams. Kanban as we know it started at Toyota in the late 1940s and early '50s. They needed a new way to manage their inventory of parts for building cars. The solution came from an unlikely source, supermarkets. Toyota noticed that supermarkets restocked shelves only as needed based on customer demand. Toyota also noticed that customers took a relatively small number of items off the shelf per visit to the store. You might think this is obvious but for Toyota, it was a revolutionary way of thinking about inventory. Today we call it…
