Flexan is a leading medical device manufacturer and a key pillar in Ingersoll Rand’s growth strategy within life sciences markets. In this role, you won’t just support the business—you’ll help shape its future as it scales, evolves, and invests in innovation.

As Plant Controller, you will lead all financial activities across three manufacturing sites in Lincolnshire, IL; Chicago, IL; and St. Francis, WI. Reporting to the Finance Director – Flexan, with a dotted‑line relationship to the Multi‑Site Operations Leader, you’ll directly support decisions that drive cost efficiency, revenue growth, margin expansion, and working capital optimization.

Key Competencies and Responsibilities:

  • Finance Leadership: Trusted advisor to site leadership, supporting both tactical and strategic objectives. Deliver clear, insightful financial analysis that goes beyond the numbers—highlighting trends, risks, opportunities, and business implications. Analyze customer and product financial performance, support new business quoting, and potential M&A integration
  • Manufacturing Analytics: Develop a deep understanding of manufacturing performance, including productivity, scrap, purchase price variance, and spending trends. Partner with others to optimize inventory and support capital investment decisions.
  • Control Environment: Ensure strong financial controls and is pro-active in resolving current or future gaps. Oversee month-end close activities and establish a culture of compliance (revenue cut-off, reserves, safeguarding assets).
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop timely and accurate forecasts for the P&L and Balance Sheet. Assess risk and opportunities. Support standard cost process.
  • Liaison to Key Stakeholders: Facilitate timely response to various stakeholders, both internal (FP&A, controllership, AP, AR) and external (vendors, customers)
  • System and Process Improvements: Drive improvements to ERP configurations and automation through changes to internal processes and creation of dashboards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related Business Concentration
  • 7+ years experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment performing cost accounting and manufacturing variance analysis
  • 5+ yrs of ERP finance module experience, such as JDE, Oracle, SAP (IQMS preferred)

Core Competencies:

  • MBA, CMA, CFA, CPA certification.
  • Compliance: Experience with SOX compliance, audit engagements, and effective project management.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret complex financial data, derive actionable insights, and summarize key messages simply to team members at all levels
  • Problem-Solving: Proactively identifies issues and implements effective solutions with a passion for continuous improvement
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to support cross-departmental initiatives, with ability to influence others
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects efficiently.
  • Systems: High competency with Excel, HFM, data warehouses (PBI/Qlik)

Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements

  • This position will be based onsite 3+ days per week with <10% travel
