Position Summary

The Security Manager is responsible for administrative and operational functions for the Security Department.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Manages the staff, develops policies and procedures, goals and objectives, and provides administrative direction.
  • Responsible for recruiting, interviewing, screening, selecting and scheduling employees for the Department.
  • Periodically completes coaching plans to evaluate employee staff performance and ensure continuity of Department.
  • Meets with direct reporting staff to review performance and progress according to departmental goals and takes corrective action

when necessary.

  • Coordinates all departmental process improvement activities including liaison with the Process Improvement Team.
  • Ensures that employees receive appropriate training, and that all training/licensure/certifications are properly documented.
  • Assists in preparing and implementing Department budget.
  • Works with the Sr Director of Security, Emergency Preparedness, and hospital administration to develop strategies for crime

prevention at each of the campuses.

  • Supervises the Police Officers assigned to the Emergency Department if applicable
  • Manages various personnel functions including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and disciplinary actions.

 Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state

and local standards.

 Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Other Related Functions

  • Assists in the attainment of financial goals for areas of responsibility.
  • Establishes Critical Success Factors for areas of responsibility and consistently meets or exceeds the CSF standards.
  • Stays informed of evolving technology related to crime prevention, access control, and CCTV.
  • Demonstrates and promotes Orlando Health Culture, Values, and Commitment to Excellence standards.
  • Maximizes customer satisfaction.
  • Directs departmental activities in the absence of the Sr. Director of Security.
  • Must exhibit the highest degree of trust and integrity in all functions.
  • Develops and oversees departmental and organizational Security training.
  • Oversees departmental website to assure content is applicable and current.
  • Conducts investigations as needed.
  • Performs all other duties assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Training

Must Meet One Of The Following

 Bachelor’s degree in security management, criminal justice, public safety, homeland security, or related field, or

 Associate degree and five (5) years of experience in a security related field, to include supervisory experience, or

 Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in a security related field, to include supervisory experience.

Licensure/Certification

Valid Florida driver’s license with no more than six (6) points, at least 21 years of age, and must be insurable under the Orlando Health

insurance carrier’s requirements and standards.

Must be able to obtain applicable IAHSS certifications.

Experience

Five (5) years Law Enforcement, U.S. Military Service, or Security experience, to include three (3) years supervisor experience or a total of

eight (8) years of experience in a security related field, to include supervisory experience.
