The AARP Ohio team seeks a creative and execution-oriented Integrated Communications and Engagement Intern to support digital communications, social media, and event-based storytelling. This role offers hands-on experience across content creation, audience engagement, and event promotion. The intern will help bring AARP Ohio’s work to life through compelling digital content and on-the-ground event support, contributing to integrated campaigns that connect with communities across the state. This paid internship is set to start in Summer 2026, with a possibility of continuing until the end of the year.

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories.
Compensation And Benefits
The hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, $28 for Ph.D. candidates. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.

Responsibilities
- Create and schedule social media content aligned with advocacy campaigns and community engagement efforts
- Support planning and promotion of events through email, social media, and communications toolkits
- Capture and produce real-time content at events (photo, video, short-form storytelling)
- Assist in maintaining and executing the social media content calendar
- Develop graphics and visual assets using PowerPoint, Canva, Adobe, Capcut, or similar tools
- Support email marketing and digital communications efforts
- Track and report on social and digital performance metrics
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to support campaign execution
- Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university as a rising undergraduate junior or senior, graduate student, or postdoctoral student, and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship
- Pursuing a degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
- Familiarity with Canva, Adobe, or similar design tools
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Ability to work well with diverse populations, including age, gender, race, and sexual orientation
- Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office programs; familiarity with analytics tools is a plus

- Regular and reliable job attendance
- Exhibit respect and understanding of others to maintain professional relationships
- Independent judgement in evaluation options to make sound decisions
- In office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
