Predictability Under the Lights: Why Acuity Brands’ M3 Sports Lighting Is a Retrofit Masterclass There are two things most people underestimate until they don’t have them: 1. Good lighting 2. Predictability That’s why the Baldwinsville High School sports lighting upgrade caught my attention. Not because it’s flashy but because it’s a case study in designing for certainty, especially in retrofit environments, where uncertainty usually lives rent‑free. At Baldwinsville High School in New York, the district upgraded an existing football field while also installing lighting for a new multi‑sport field, using the same M3 platform across both environments. That’s not just convenient. That’s strategic. In addition, the M3 solution delivered: 1. Improved visibility 2. Reduced glare 3. Increased system efficiency 4. Dynamic controls and integrated RGB effects to elevate the game‑day experience In other words: better light where it matters, less light where it doesn’t, and a system that behaves the way operators expect it to.
