For me, leadership is more about proximity. Titles and org charts don’t build trust; people do. When we step out from behind titles, strategy decks, and assumptions, and instead lean into genuine curiosity about how others experience their work, we gain a truer picture of what people need to thrive. That’s when leadership happens- when we choose to step closer: to listen without agenda, and to walk beside instead of ahead. Again and again, I’ve seen that proximity leads to understanding.
