They do this by designing, building and operating a complex autonomous capable robot to complete a series of tasks in a given time period. The games and competitions are 'made for TV' with very high production values.

As a mentor, I am able to take professional skills such as implementing an engineering approach and problem solving as well as practical skills such as tool usage and fabrication techniques and use them to enable students and other mentors to deliver a program that enables the Spartan Robotics team to be one of the world’s leading FRC teams. This has included for the first time in the 2016/2017 season the development of work streams focusing on the non-technical aspects of FRC including the highly-coveted Chairman’s Award that the team won at the Silicon Valley Regional competition in April 2017.

As an announcer, I bring my communications skills to FRC. Making often repetitive information more engaging and clear in what is a noisy and at times chaotic environment is as fun as it is challenging.
