Pakistan’s Outdated Study Pattern: Time for a Change Pakistan’s education system is still focused on only two options: FSc Engineering and Pre-Medical. For years, students have been told that success means becoming a doctor or an engineer. Nearly 95% of students are pushed toward these fields, often without considering their interests or abilities. Students who do not enter medical or engineering programs are usually forced to choose other studies without proper guidanceand interest. This leads to frustration, skill gaps, and disappointment among youth. Today, the world has changed. We are living in the age of AI, technology, and innovation. Modern careers need skills, research, and practical learning, not limited choices. Pakistan must introduce and promote diverse study and career fields, such as: Security & Safety, HR, Management, AI & Data Science, Cybersecurity, Environmental Studies, Behavioral Sciences, Entrepreneurship, and Professional Certifications. Educational reform is now a need, not a choice. More study options will reduce pressure on students and prepare them for future-ready careers. Message for National Curriculum Wing Pakistan The National Curriculum Wing Pakistan should update basic education from early grades and introduce innovative and skill-based subjects at the start. Early guidance and new subjects can help students choose careers with confidence. MEET PAKISTANI TALENT Rehan Jalil Rehan Jalil is currently the CEO of Securiti. He was the SVP and GM for Cloud Security at Symantec, leading research and development for Cloud Security Products.Rehan came into Symantec with $4.7B acquisition of Bluecoat, where he ran cloud security. He came into BlueCoat via the $280M acquisition of Elastica, that he founded and ran as CEO. Elastica innovated CASB and drove it to become an important security category. Prior to that, he was the founder and chief executive officer of WiChours, an innovator in deep packet inspection centered packet core, which was used to deploy some of the earliest 4G networks. WiChorus was acquired by Tellabs for $180M. Previously, he was Chief Architect at Aperto and helped innovate multicore processors at Sun Microsystems. He was named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur finalist in 2010 and Top 25 Disruptor in 2015.He holds an AMP from Harvard Business School, an MSEE from Purdue University and a BS from NED University. Pakistani-Owned Tech Company Sold for $1.7 Billion Securiti AI, founded by Pakistani entrepreneur Rehan Jalil, has been acquired by Veeam for about $1.7 billion. The company provides data-security and AI-governance tools used to protect and manage data across cloud platforms. Jalil will join Veeam as president of security and AI after the deal closes later this year. The acquisition is celebrated as a major success for Pakistani talent in the global tech industry. The federal government of Pakistan raised $507 million today in the much-awaited 5G spectrum auction, selling 480 MHz of spectrum against a target of 597 MHz, as three telecom operators—Jazz, Zong and Ufone—secured frequencies to roll out next-generation mobile services and faster digital connectivity in the country. The auction was concluded after three rounds. According to the PTA, the auction saw the sale of two lots in the 700 MHz band, all five lots in the 2300 MHz band, all 19 lots in the 2600 MHz band, and 22 out of 28 lots in the 3500 MHz band, taking the total spectrum sold to 480 MHz. In terms of allocation, Jazz emerged as the largest buyer, securing 190 MHz of spectrum, including 50 MHz in the 3500 MHz band, 70 MHz in the 2600 MHz, 50 MHz in the 2300 MHz and 20 MHz in the 700 MHz. Ufone acquired 180 MHz, including 120 MHz in the 3500 MHz band and 60 MHz in the 2600 MHz band, while Zong secured 110 MHz in the auction, including 50 MHz in the 3500 MHz band and 60 MHz in the 2600 MHz band. The rollout of 5G is expected to significantly enhance data speeds, support emerging technologies and enable digital services across sectors, including industry, healthcare, education and e-commerce. A Chronic Service Failure in Jamshoro and Hyderabad ​Is Zong ever going to fix the network in Jamshoro and Hyderabad? 📉 ​We have been dealing with these exact same issues for the past several years, and frankly, it’s "unseen" for a major telecom provider to let service stay this poor for so long. Whether you are a student at the universities in Jamshoro or running a business in Hyderabad, the "4G" label on our phones has become a joke. ​For years, the experience has been a cycle of: ​Zero Internet Speed: Basic tasks like checking an email or a webpage take minutes, not seconds. ​No Download Capacity: Any essential file or update simply times out. ​Non-existent Performance: Signal drops and high latency are the "norm" rather than the exception. ​How can we work toward a "Digital Pakistan" when a major hub in Sindh is left with such outdated and unreliable connectivity?
