Unica is a software platform that the Direct Marketing and GDAS business teams use for Campaign* and Offer management. Target’s Direct Mail campaign channel uses the tool to help drive over $200MM in incremental sales. Other campaign channels like Receipt Marketing, Email, and Mobile use the tool to support over $100MM in incremental sales. Target was currently running on version 6.4 of the tool, and the current Unica version available for users is 8.2. The 6.4 version is minimally supported by…

Other campaign channels like Receipt Marketing, Email, and Mobile use the tool to support over $100MM in incremental sales. Target was currently running on version 6.4 of the tool, and the current Unica version available for users is 8.2. The 6.4 version is minimally supported by Unica/IBM (sunset date was October, 2010) and hence any DB2 updates to Targets Analytical Data Warehouse (ADW), as well as any migration of corporate systems to Windows 7 will create risks to functionality of version 6.4. The business impact of not upgrading is a possible loss of revenue ($300MM in incremental sales).
