Alum Brianna Lin (M&T’26) has launched Copperlane (YC W26) through Y Combinator, building an AI-native mortgage origination system to help lenders process loans more efficiently. With a personal connection to the mortgage space, Lin and co-founder Athan Zang are combining domain expertise with technical execution to modernize loan origination. “Penn Engineering gave me the skills and confidence to start building and showed me just how quickly you can turn an idea into a product that others can use,” Lin says. Her advice to aspiring founders: “Just go do it. Stevens HFTC 2026 – Official Final Teams Announcement We are excited to announce that the final list of teams advancing past the technical assessment for Stevens HFTC 2026 has been finalized. This year’s competition brings together 59 teams, made up of 192 participants from 46 universities across 10 countries worldwide. This year's competition brings together graduate and undergraduate students from a wide range of quantitative and technical backgrounds. Participants come from majors such as Financial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science. This diversity of academic training strengthens the competitive environment and fosters interdisciplinary collaboration. The competition is organized with the support of faculty leadership and student initiative, including Professor Ionut Florescu, Professor Emmanuel D. (Manos) Hatzakis, and PhD student Matthew Thomas, whose commitment has been instrumental in shaping this year’s event. Each iteration forces researchers to rebuild context, rerun experiments, and stitch results back into drafts. You can’t parallelize yourself, so progress bottlenecks on attention and context.
