Most SaaS demos don’t fail because the product is weak. They fail because the sequence forces buyers to imagine value instead of experience it. After sitting in 40+ PMM demo reviews, I keep seeing the same pattern: teams walk prospects through the UI instead of the workflow. Dashboard → Menus → Features → Settings. Logical for the builder. Zero logic for the buyer. Every time I watch a trial recording, the same thing happens: the moment buyers hit a screen that doesn’t connect to their real workflow, their attention drops and it never fully returns. Second failure? Buried workflow replacement. If buyers can’t immediately see the “before → after” shift in the first 30–40 seconds, they won’t believe your product creates it. Third? No fast verification moment nothing the buyer can do right now that proves the improvement. The more demos I rebuild, the clearer it becomes: these three gaps shape the entire conversion path. Fix the sequence → reveal the workflow → engineer the quick win. Why Your Email “Opens” Disappear in SFMC (and Break Predictive Reports) If you’re pasting custom HTML emails into Salesforce Marketing Cloud and wondering why your open rates are always 0 — even though clicks are working perfectly — here’s what’s really happening 👇 When you create an email using custom HTML, SFMC does not automatically insert its tracking pixel. That tiny invisible tag is what tells SFMC an email has been opened: <custom name="opencounter" type="tracking"/> No pixel = no open data = broken engagement tracking. Why Clicks Still Work Click tracking uses URL wrapping (SFMC rewrites every link). So even if you forgot the open counter, clicks will still show up in reports — which can trick you into thinking everything’s fine. But behind the scenes, your _Open data view stays empty.
