Momentous Sports's Marley Hughes latest newsletter examines the behavioral economic impact of cashless transactions at sports venues using AMB Sports and Entertainment as a case study. His primary insight is that fans "spent significantly more while reporting higher satisfaction levels" is particularly compelling for #sportsbiz leaders given there is usually an inverse correlation between increases in price and fan satisfaction. Elite high school sports “is going to be one of the more valuable media rights [categories] and nationally monetized [broadcast] products in the next 10-20 years,” Michael Schreiber (founder and executive chairman, Playfly Sports) said. A friend of mind is currently weighing two potential Seattle sports investments simultaneously — a minority Seahawks stake and a piece of the NBA expansion bid. It's a fascinating comparison. How do you value 40 years of the 12th Man against the excitement of a blank slate? A Super Bowl championship versus years of likely losing offset by the sheer goodwill of bringing basketball back? Mature real estate infrastructure versus whatever gets built around a new arena? Talented bankers and lawyers will run their models. But I keep wondering why there isn't a standard analytical baseline for this — something that combines data, AI, and real sports business experience to make apples-to-oranges franchise comparisons actually tractable. Every other asset class has that. Sports doesn't. Yet. Curious if others see the same gap — or think I'm wrong.

Every search firm says they’re different. Most aren’t. Having spent time both inside search firms and sitting on the client side, you start to see the patterns. The same approaches, the same language, the same outputs, just packaged slightly differently. That’s part of what made my conversations with Jake Rosenberg stand out, and what led me to step in as Advisor with The Athlete Group, supporting the broader thinking around leadership, structure, and organizational direction. Plenty of firms can point to 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 they’ve done: experience, relationships, past placements. The real difference shows up in 𝘩𝘰𝘸 they do it. How they engage with a client when the stakes are high.
