Companies are not buying their way into new markets anymore. They’re partnering into them. BCG research published this year: M&A volumes have been declining for eight years. Joint ventures and strategic alliances have grown throughout. The executives surveyed expect the trend to accelerate. The reason isn’t sentiment. It’s math. A well-structured alliance gets you market access faster than a hired sales team and cheaper than an acquisition. You get flexibility, regional reach, and a partner who already has the trust you’d spend years building from scratch. The catch is that most companies still treat partnerships like an afterthought. One hire. No budget. No seat at the GTM table. Signing 80 partners and activating three is not a program. It’s a list. If the research says partnerships are the growth lever, the org chart should reflect that.

Inclusion isn’t a cost — it should be a core part of each deal to create lasting and truly meaningful impact alongside real value. ✨ Miller Center for Global Impact's recent study titled “The True Cost of Impact-First Investing” shares several key insights on the fundamentals of commercial funds vs. impact funds: 📈 Impact-first funds often operate more efficiently, averaging ~10 investments per year vs. ~6–7 for commercial funds. 💼 Their cost per investment is actually lower (~$80K vs. ~$125K). 💸 The cost per dollar deployed is higher (~$0.21 vs. ~$0.08), reflecting smaller ticket sizes and hands-on support to early-stage and underserved entrepreneurs. ♻️ This is not inefficiency, but the price of inclusion — absorbing complexity so others can access opportunity. 🌱 Catalytic investments enabled 6x to 40x impact growth, showing how smart subsidy multiplies outcomes. One takeaway is clear: If we want inclusive markets, someone must intentionally pay for inclusion. When done thoughtfully, that investment produces meaningful social and economic returns.
