Conceptualized and developed a system using PHP and MySQL to accept both offline and online registrations from prospective attendees to technical events like those of IEEE and CSI (Computer Society of India) student chapters and gather the information centrally. The system provided individual and team ids to participants and minimized repetition of information. The system provided individual and team ids to participants and minimized repetition of information. It provided a convenient web interface for event leads to view list of individual registrants and teams for their events and communicate with them. The system greatly speeded up the process of registration and eliminated confusions and errors that arose when the process was manual. The system was adopted by CSI for their country wide annual event and scaled flawlessly to accommodate a few thousand registrations.

  • Software Developer – RapID – Speedy and Automatic ID card generation

Computer Society of India, DJ Sanghvi College of Engineering Chapter

    - less than a year

    Education

Conceptualized and implemented a system to automate the process of generating ID cards for new members of Computer Society of India student chapter of my college using PHP and PHP’s GD and Image functions. The system speeded up all steps involved in the process, right from scanning photos to laying out ID cards for publishing. It reduced the task of generating ID cards from three weeks to four days and also resulted in significant cost savings.

  • Netset: Automating Network Performance Evaluation

    PFLDNeT 2009

Performance measurement and comparison is integral to almost any kind of networking research. However, we currently lack a general framework under which network-based tests can be carried out. Performance measurement and comparison is integral to almost any kind of networking research. However, we currently lack a general framework under which network-based tests can be carried out. Thus researchers tend to design their tests based on their own ingenuity, making it difficult to repeat these tests and compare testing results from different sources. This has seriously stymied innovation in the networking research community. New ideas are difficult to be verified and then widely deployed since different tests produce different or even conflicting results. In this paper, we proposed Netset, a software framework to automate network performance evaluation. It makes network-based tests portable, repeatable, convenient and gives realistic and comparable results. It leverages existent models and tools but is also extensible. We have implemented a proof-of-concept prototype of Netset and used it to carry out some TCP tests. Our initial experiences with Netset demonstrate its advantages. We believe that a standard benchmark tool like Netset will facilitate a more objective evaluation of new network protocols and benefit the whole networking research community.
