RLHC (Red Lion Hotels Corporation) has joined forces with Health Care for the Homeless (HCH) in Baltimore to launch an innovative social responsibility project dedicated to raising awareness for homelessness in urban cities. Project Wake Up Call: Baltimore Uncovered is a fundraising campaign which uses raw, thought-provoking photographic artwork online to expose the hardships associated with living on the streets.

Hotel RL creates a charitable awareness campaign in each new city it launches. Forming partnerships with local charities and corporations, the campaign is focused on helping the homeless in the community. The creation of this initiative provides great opportunities for our staff, our guests and our brand as it launches in tandem with each new Hotel RL. Our primary goal is to raise awareness of the homeless issue and to be a part of the solution.

The University of Arizona MarCom team was honored to win top billing for its Communications | Media Relations strategy around telling this story in a very crowded space among the best research institutions in the world.

From the judges: This entry is impressive. The strategies implemented were strategic and thorough. The team conducted interviews five months in advance, conveyed the technical and scientific content so that audiences understood, while also maintaining the essence of the story. Additionally, the use of visual aids, such as animations and virtual reality, is compelling. The campaign also garnered national media coverage. This stands as a great model for other institutions, as there was even an on-campus tie in with Admitted Students Day — brilliant!

2019 Silver Award of Excellence for Strategic Communications: Public Relations, Media Relations and Community Relations Projects for our integrated teamwork on the Giant Magellan Telescope High Fire.

With the casting of its fifth primary mirror at the Richard F. Caris Mirror Lab at the University of Arizona, the world's largest telescope clears a major milestone toward completion. Sporting seven primary mirror segments, the Giant Magellan Telescope, or GMT, will provide astronomers with a one-of-a-kind tool to answer some of the most fundamentally grand questions about the cosmos and our place in it, including detecting signatures of biological activity on planets outside of our solar system.

The University of Arizona teams of Communications, Research, Development and Innovation, Marketing and Brand Management, UA Foundation, and Richard F. Caris Mirror Lab worked with the Giant Magellan Telescope Organization and Zeno Group to create an event for donors and international media.
