  • Production Planning Optimization: Going One Step Ahead of Economic Order Quantity Model

The model discussed in this paper will give an insight to inspect how certain decision parameters have overarching effects on the entire production planning process. The firm's existing vision, mission, objectives and goal should be moulded according to the demographic and customer base it is targeting, giving a head start to the firms first year plans. The Organization should assess the competitive profiles of the other manufacturers, giving this point utmost importance and, in turn, come to an external factor evaluation for the firm's upcoming performance. The internal factor evaluation is important which firms mostly don't consider, that will provide a competitive advantage of both their team and products they intend to offer. Making short-terms plans and if found incremental in nature, going for long term plans keeping costs in mind. Itemizing costs are important factor because citing low cost is generic if the actual numeric gain or trade-off is unknown. Looking for domestic investors will be good news for the company and the shareholder's, ease the expansion plans in the foreign land. That needs a much better regulation of policies by the Indian Government than the present ones, like moving up India from 130 rank in the ease of doing business to at least within top 100.

The degree of mechanization from conventional is underway. Scope of automation might reduce the current failures at the automated equipment front. New standard operating procedure which accommodate modernization might allow better utilization of port area. From the survey analysis, Management decision making should be dynamic and not predetermined. Control and time are the most important factors with respect to port efficiency.

The optimization of business strategy can be done through assessing nature of international competitiveness. Also, there is shift in demand, which can be a competitive advantage. Many corporations look at the capital flows and return on the project, elucidating that by exploring globalization trends. Technological change has added benefits to digitalize the manufacturing standards ensuring multi-control phenomenon. Looking at both the impacts when one home company wants to expand its operations in the world and another foreign company wants to set up operations at the home location.

Our paper aims at improving the hull design and appendages and choosing a better propulsor rather than changing the current propulsion system which may be linked with three components namely propulsor open water efficiency, hull efficiency and the relative rotative efficiency. It also suggests solution which relaxes the length constraints slightly in conjuction with block coefficient which enhances the performance both the ballast and loaded condition with a good estimated fuel savings per day. It also considers various hull coatings that reduce the commencement of fouling to an extent such as electrochemically active coating systems. The injection of low pressure air either to develop a micro-bubble interface between water and hull or the provision of air cushion trapped by an especially developed hull form, will significantly reduce the frictional drag. Prior to the propulsor it shares the concept of contra-rotating propeller techniques which show an efficiency improvement of 5 to 15 per cent. Division of power is probably most important issue when any kind of propulsion system is evaluated in the vessel. The hydro-dynamic design point also ensures low cavitation and pressure pulses. It also gives the idea of magneto-hydrodynamic propulsion, which is not that widely used but has good future considerations due to noise free conditions and design aspects.
